Kingston & Poly join the Jack Petchey Award Scheme
Kingston & Poly’s application to join the Jack Petchey Foundation’s Achievement Award Scheme has been approved by the Foundation’ Trustees. Starting in June, the Club will be making eight awards per year to young members.
The Jack Petchey Foundation is a London-based charitable foundation that aims to support young people. Its main instrument is the Achievement Award Scheme for organisations working with young people of 11-25 years, including schools and sports clubs. Awards are made to young people for special achievements or contributions to the youth organisation. For the Club, the running of the Award Scheme will be coordinated by Frank Schubert.
Award winners are selected by nomination and vote. All Club members can nominate a young person for the award. Nominations can be made any time, and should be sent by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. They should include the names of nominee and nominator, and the reason for the nomination. This can be any kind of special achievement, like performance in athletics, contribution to the Club, significant personal development etc. This is a great opportunity to not only recognise sporting success, but also the many other valuable contributions by our young members. Every six weeks, the list of nominations will be published on the website and on the notice board at Kingsmeadow, and members will be invited to cast their vote (submitted like the nominations).
Awards will be presented at a Club training night Tuesday or Thursday. The award winner receives a certificate, a medal, and a cheque of £300 to be spent on a Club project selected by the recipient from a Club wish list. Any suggestions for the wish list (equipment, social events, training opportunites…) are welcome, and should be forwarded to Frank.
